Hi!

I just wanted you to know we used the patches you made for us during an event in Oklahoma last week and they worked great. In fact, I am passing your info on to a guy name Logan Boyd from Steel Dragon Air-soft. He expressed great interest in your work.

Cheers!

Add CP combat features to CP Gen 2 Field Pant

Hi, I got the pants today and I just wanted to say it’s freaking amazing, all the straps and components are where I wanted it to be. I liked the fact that you went all out and double or even triple stitched everything to ensure that all the components added to the pant are going to last (something CP never bothered doing to their already overpriced appeal), I feel like I can take the pants through hell and back. Overall I really like it and I would recommend your service to anyone who needed expert modification to their garment.

Just wanted to let you know that I got my modified uniforms, put them through some rough use, and I’m extremely happy! In fact, the BDU pants that you modified seem more durable than the issued combat pants or the Crye models. In the near future, I am definitely going to get some more out in the mail to you, but I’ll let you know when that time comes. Excellent work, and thank you so much!

Custom combat pants conversion for a US Army service member

I have always been a fan of AOR1, DCU, Woodland as welas many other older styles of camouflage. The only problem with the older standard designs is that they rarely, if ever, come equipped with styles applicable to modern combat, for example integrated (Crye Style) knee pads or larger belt loops for riggers and other style belts. Even something as simple as extra pockets for accessories are lacking in these old designs.

I serve in the Army and am also an avid mil-sim player whether it be air-soft, paintball, or simunitions. Between the two I am always alternating load-outs and that includes the battle dress uniform. Needless to say I was looking for something durable and tactically applicable to my profession and my hobby. I came across Adventure – Tactical which offered “Crye Style” and many other modern day conversions for your plain combat shirt or pants. This quickly grabbed my interest and after hearing seeing the affordable prices offered, I thought this was a great alternative compared to putting up with old style pants lacking modern capabilities.
The service was quick and any questions I had were answered with detail. After I put in my order and my personal input, the pants were on their way. Throughout the whole process good communication was kept with friendly input and updates regarding my order. After a few days of assembly the pants were shipped promptly with tracking information, and came two days later. Upon opening the package I immediately noticed the thick multi-layered sewing around all potential weak spots on the pants. This was very impressive and was something that is lacking even on modern combat pants. The second thing I noticed was the prevalence of pockets for a multiple amount of applications. With this Crye conversion I noticed a lot of similar qualities to this and my multicam Crye pants, for obvious reasons. It had velcro around the back of the knees and straps around the ankles for that custom fit. Also adjustable straps in the pockets above the knee pads to lengthen or shorten the knee pads height so it’s perfectly in line and comfortable.

I grabbed my Crye knee pad inserts and slipped them right into the DCU pants. A perfect fit. I noticed that because of the durable sewing and design that the pads actually sat better and way more securely compared to the Crye pants I purchased new. Everything I found with these pants immediately impressed me and I have no problems with any part of the construction. Everything suited my needs all the way to the reinforced and enlarged belt loops. The layered sewing was on every seam and around pockets which really reassures the reliability of the construction.

Once getting out to the field I adjusted everything to make them fit perfectly. Everything was snug and sat very well. I did some movements, transitioning to different positions, as well as some jogging and the pants were great. The most comfortable pair of combat pants I have worn to date. The comfort paired with the unmatched construction made me realize I liked these pants over my original Crye pants. It was hard to believe that you can get something like this for such a great price.

I also purchased three call sign tags/ blood type identification tags which were also beautifully crafted. The velcro placement and sewing makes them easy to apply to any vest, helmet, or uniform.
I definitely have to vouch for Chris at Adventure – Tactical. Friendly service and great uniform mod services that I have never seen before. The discounts provided to military personnel is also a great service and hard to find with alternative on-line shops. On top of that I was provided a “10 percent off my next order card” which came with the product. I highly recommend this business for any of the guys in my unit or my friends that I share my hobby with. A lot of my friends have had the same impressions on the pants they received. The work put into these pants is very consistent and extremely impressive. I intend on doing much more business with Adventure – Tactical in the future and I suggest you do the same. This is one of those small businesses that we should really be supporting more in this country.

Thank you for the great service and an outstanding product…

Chris,
Thanks for all the hard work on the BSG call sign patches. These were designed to be a gift of appreciation for all those who have shown relentless dedication in this ongoing endeavor that has become Black Sierra Group. They turned out great and have been well received. The quality of workmanship and speedy delivery was more than I could have asked for. I cannot wait to see how your designs progress in the future. You can be assured that I will be ordering many more from you as our courses become available to the general public. Thanks again for all your hard work.

BTW: Many have expressed to me how they would like to see House Hold Six (HH6) patches for their wives. Just a thought….

Custom E-FCHP combat pants conversion to DCU pants and FCHS combat shirt conversion to DCU field shirt

Hey guys,
I was looking to pick up some DCU combat pants for the LC XI event this year, and wanted to get a nice enough pair that would last me a long time, so after doing some searching I came across http://adventuretactical.wordpress.com/ and after looking at the reviews and images, I knew I had to contact Chris and see if he would make a pair for me. I was so pleased with the pants, that I also paid him to make a combat shirt from the leftover jacket material I had sent him.

Before I go any further, I have to mention one thing which made the entire process awesome: Chris replies to emails fast. Throughout the entire process of talking about what I wanted made, ordering it, and having it made and sent out, the longest it took me to get a reply from Chris was about 3 hours. Not only that, but he was always polite, professional, and to the point, that alone gives him an A+ in my book.

The ordering process was pretty simple, I looked at his site, asked him if he could do what I wanted (turn a pair of regular DCU pants into Crye style combat pants), he said yes, and I paypal’d him the funds and shipped my set of DCUs. Total cost was roughly $120 (including shipping, labor, and the replica knee-pads…still need to shell out for a pair of the Crye ones), definitely the most I had spent on any camo so far, but after seeing the pics and reviews on the site, I felt confident it was a good choice. Plus, I’m a gear whore.

Despite having a large workload and suffering a hand injury halfway through production, Chris always kept me informed, and got me the pants by the date I needed them. The total turnaround time for the pants was about a month (largely due to his hand injury and workload) while the combat shirt I ordered once the pants were done only took about 10 days. On a side note, Chris sent me pics of the pants before shipping them so I knew what to expect, and I was so impressed I ordered the shirt without even inspecting the pants in person.

Before I get into how the pants performed, some info on what I had done, and why:

– Pockets for Crye knee pads
– Front facing cargo pockets
– Velcro straps on the knees and ankles for adjusting the pants

The AO for this years 3 day event was a MOUT facility near Victorville, CA. Basically a large grid of old, broken up homes and streets, filled with sharp edges, and fields of broken glass.

Map:
http://i1271.photobucket.com/albums/jj622/EvolvedTactical/LCXIAOMAP-rev6.jpg

As you can see from the pic, its a large field, and every one of those buildings was in bad condition, I’m not exaggerating when I saw there was broken glass and sharp edges everywhere, some of my friends who had gone to the event last year mentioned a few bad knee scrapes and reports of injuries, so I knew I had to wear knee pads, but wanted something durable, and comfortable. 3 days of air-soft is a long time to wear knee pads, and more importantly, to spend adjusting them when they roll down your ankle or shift on you, which is why I wanted to binge out on the built in Crye style ones.

NOW ONTO THE ACTUAL REVIEW:

The shipping box arrived, and since my anticipation had been building for a few weeks, I tore it open and looked it over.

Stitching:
Extremely solid job. Everything had been gone over multiple times and stitched down a lot more than it needed, which is always a good thing. I have no worries that the stitching on these pants will ever fail me, unless some horrible accident occurs, in which case the stitching will be the least of my concerns.

Knee pad Pockets/straps:
Built out of extra material from the jacket I sent him, these things are awesome. Stitched on extremely well, and perfectly positioned. The inside of them is lined with a non-slip material to keep the knee pads from falling out. Sadly since I got the replica knee pads instead of shelling out for the Crye ones, they didn’t mate with the material as well and one popped out of the pocket once, but thankfully a team mate pointed it out and I didn’t lose the knee pad. I’m definitely going to pick up the real Crye knee pads for the pockets to avoid that in the future. Aside from that, the knee pads were awesome for the entire weekend, even with the strap on the side of the pants to hold the knee pad closer to the leg fully adjusted, I barely noticed the knee pads the entire weekend. After examining the knee pads at the end of the weekend, there was numerous cuts and scrapes on them, definitely better than on my knees, well worth the price for that alone.

Front Pockets:
Pretty simple really, Chris took a pair of the pockets off the jacket, and put them on the front of the pants right above the knee pads. Very well sewn on, work perfectly to hold small items you need to get to quick. Also the perfect size for a small hip flask, which I pleasantly discovered at the campground after the first night.

Ankle and Knee Straps:
Although I already mentioned them in the knee pad part, both sets of straps worked well, and more importantly, didn’t come undone throughout the day. The knee ones held the knee pads right where I wanted them, and the ankle ones kept my BDUs over my boots.

The Shirt:
I asked Chris to make a FROG style combat shirt, but with full velcro on the shoulder pockets, and he delivered. I’ll keep this part brief since I haven’t gotten to wear it out on the field yet, but the shirt is awesome. Easily my favorite combat shirt I’ve ever owned. Comfortable, amazing stitching, and the pockets are perfect, same with the collar. And at only $45 (not including shipping him my own jacket) an amazing price.

Overall:
Wore the pants for 3 days straight, and loved them. Extremely comfortable, well built, and worked exactly as intended. While it seemed a little pricey at first, well worth it. These pants are going to last me a long time, work great, and supported a small business, ran by a great guy who really did care about customer service, good communication, and his product. Once I’m done moving and all settled in (and have a new job) I’m planning to get a second set of BDUs from Chris, just have to decide on the pattern….3 Color Woodland, or Tiger Stripe?

Thanks for reading!

– RTF

Thanks for the awesome set of BDUs, will definitely order another one once I can.

FCHP conversions to DCU pants

AAR CQB MIL-SIM event at Strikeforce Sports
New kit addition/tryout:

History:
In getting ready for Operation Pine Plains (MIL-SIM) my teammates had been voicing concerns about knee pads and how they can become uncomfortable while wearing them during this kind of big game. It lasts 21 hours and since the majority of knee pads are attached via some form of stretchy strap around the leg this kind of compression can become problematic to the wearer after prolonged periods of use. So my search started looking for alternatives. I quickly came across the Crye Precision line of clothes but the camouflage pattern that my team wears (DCU) was not available. After a few more Google searches I came across Adventure – Tactical and his services. He was doing exactly what I wanted and his prices were reasonable, so I contacted him. After a few brief emails I got a quote and sent two pairs of Propper Ripstop DCU’s to him for modifications.

Findings:
The package arrived approximately one week after I had sent it out. The contents ( 2 pairs of pants ) were tightly wrapped up and extremely safe. Upon opening the package it was immediately clear that I had done the right thing. The stitching was quite well done, although I can’t confirm this it does look like double stitching. Either way, the replica knee pads ( which were also ordered from Adventure – Tactical ) were already ‘installed’ and appeared to be quite secure.

Field usage:
The package arrived on a Friday and I had a game on Sunday so it was the perfect time to try them out. Let me just say that they worked flawlessly. Being a rifleman on my team I run a lot. The one thing that I noticed is that I DID NOT notice the knee pads while I was running. They are just part of the pants. Yet when it came time to take a knee I had a nice cushion to protect my knee from the ground, every time. They really do not need any adjusting. There is a velcro strap on the backside of the knee which can be used to make the knee pad more snug. I adjusted them once before the game and have not needed to do so again. There are also straps around the backside of the ankle as well. To be honest it is a really nice addition. Normally I would blouse my pants over my boots, however though since I was the only one of my team to do so I decided to not. This strap allowed me to adjust the bottom of my pants to have that perfect fit over my boots.

Overall:
So far I have worn them 3 times. After each time I wash them and hang the pants up to dry. I have not yet placed them in the dryer but really do not have any worries of the velcro deteriorating due to that. The pants are holding up quite well. I cannot recommend this kind of modification more. They will draw a lot of attention. So be prepared to answer a bunch of questions! I liked the work so much I am having my woodland kit done in the same manner.

Thank you,
Mike B

Custom E-FCHP pants conversion

So after using my E-FCHP converted Woodland pants at about half a dozen training sessions, I can honestly say that Adventure – Tactical out did himself on these. The knee material functions perfectly, allowing me to take a knee without putting any strain on any material and I’m able to easily adjust the pads up and down, to make sure that my knees land on them every time. Not to mention I’ve taken several dives through bushes and thorns, and the construction is rock solid throughout these pants.

Thanks again Adventure – Tactical!

High quality work… the custom work on pants and shirt is very good. The knee pad holes are accurate and at the right place on my pants. The knee pad inserts stay in place, are perfectly secured and it’s not hard to put them on.

Very good over all… will do business again!

An FCHP pants conversion (fitted to Crye Gen 1 combat knee pads)

My review as promised. Sorry it took so long!

I also apologize for the lack of pictures. The one picture a friend of mine took he hasn’t forwarded to me as of yet. I’ll keep the pressure on him.

Initial impressions:
Pricing and the communication in general were top notch.

On to the pants themselves: Once I opened the packaging I saw that there is plenty of stitching which makes everything pretty sturdy. Chris sent a brief explanation on pant maintenance. Not rocket surgery but nice to know, especially if you are the type that doesn’t know too much about washing clothes, other than wash your whites separate from your colored clothing.

As I mentioned before, I found the stitching and the tabs were very sturdy and I even thought that they felt like cardboard. To the point that when I put the pants on for the first time and kneeled down I thought that I may cause some chafing after prolonged use (I couldn’t be further from the truth, I’ll explain later). Other than that I thought the pants were every bit as advertised.

At the field:
Now, a few weeks later I went on a training day in preparation for an upcoming Air-soft game. This happened at a field full of hills, ravines and depressions in the deepest, darkest North Carolina jungle. It can be quite unforgiving sometimes. Excellent opportunity to test out the pants. Once again, Chris delivered as advertised. As we ran through our scenario drills, I had plenty of opportunities for kneeling, going prone and everything else in between. The pads were nice and tight, yet they weren’t constricting at all. My fear of chafing? Null. Never felt the tabs and the knee pads stayed in place. In short the FCHP conversion did the job and yours truly is very happy enough to where he will be sending more of his pants to have the conversion done.

On a side note, I got positive reactions from several of my teammates, who like yours truly, are on a budget and find it a lot better to spending about 3 times as much for a pair of the high end combat pants. I passed the website information to as well…..

Conclusion: Would I recommend anyone to get this conversion done? Absolutely! The product is sturdy and well thought out. Kudos to Adventure Tactical! Keep up the good work!!

Hey Chris,

Sorry I haven’t sent you a review as of yet. Besides trying them on when I got them in the mail, I haven’t had a chance to be out in the field to actually run around in them.
As is though, I am very satisfied with the pants to the point I intend to send a couple more pairs to be modded in the near future.

Custom modifications and FCHP pants conversion to Alpenflage pants

When I first saw Chris (Unconventional) from Adventure-Tactical posting about his FCHP (Field Combat Hybrid Pants) conversion, I was extremely interested. I’ve never really loved knee pads, ‘cause the straps dig into my legs, and they’re ugly as sin, so the idea of combat pants has always appealed to me. Unluckily for me, though, most real-steel combat pants (Crye, US Tactical) are moth prohibitively expensive and only come in common colors/patterns (Multicam, OD, etc.). Chris’s ability to give any normal BDU pants the capacity to hold Crye-style knee pads is awesome, and that’s what hooked me first. Now, I was reading his post, and he said he could do other custom modifications as well. It only went downhill from there. I had been hashing out my “dream pants” for a while, a combination of several kinds of tactical and combat pants, and a few ideas of my own, the result being one similar to what would come of Crye pants, US Tactical pants, BHI Warriorwear pants, and 5.11 pants of sorts. Finally, I thought, my pipe dream might come true. I was even more right than I could have ever dreamed. My wish list was, basically, this…FCHP conversion on pants …Side ventilation zippers with Velcro flaps…Remove side cargo pockets, use to make mag pouches on front of pants…Add PALS webbing on rear left side of pants, use doubled over Alpenflage material…Slant top of right rear pocket, in the manner that 5.11 pants’ rear pockets are slanted …Trim 4” off of bottom of blouse for easier access to belt mounted items. I posted in the thread, stating my interest, and a while after, received a friendly PM from Chris that he was ready to start production. I sent him my wish list, and he gave me a very reasonable quote, considering the expense that the zippers add (~$70+shipping) for the work. I was a little short on funds, which I thought would put off the pants being built, but Chris suggested letting me pay half down, half after completion. This worked out great, and about a week after I Pay Pal’d him the money, I shipped out my sexy Alpenflage pants and blouse. Here’s where it gets really good. Chris had a couple of projects before mine, so my wait time was a little while, but that didn’t put any damper on the stellar communication he kept with me throughout the whole process. He made sure all of the measurements were correct, so that the pads would sit right, but that’s not the best bit of his commo. He saw my ideas, and built off of them with mods I’d have never thought of. Obviously, he ran everything by me first, but he had fantastic ideas about how to do things, al of them better than what I had originally thought. For example, I had just thought that the front mag pouches would be normal, with Velcro closures, but he thought beyond that. He made the front left side an adjustable, quick draw mag pouch, with a Velcro adjuster inside the pocket so it can fit AK or M4 mags. He also put a chem light pocket beside it, also quick draw, and did something similar with the left side pistol mag pockets, minus the adjustability. Making them quick draw also enabled him to simply move the cargo pockets to front, so I can still carry documents, and other important stuff in them. He also added an accessory loop on the right side, so I can hang a carabiner or other gear holder there and put zip cuffs/ear pro/etc. there. He got the work done, and kept us great communications with me the entire time, but I still hadn’t seen the pants outside of pictures (Oh, yeah, he sent me tons of photos as he worked on the pants, documenting the progress), so when I got them, I wanted to see the quality. I wasn’t disappointed one bit. Chris cut no corners in his craftsmanship, and anything that was stitched was over-stitched. The entirety of the pants, where he made modifications, is at the very least triple stitched, the majority more, even when it’s just 2 pieces of fabric put together, not even attached to the pants. Anywhere that might be a stress point is uncountable; there are literally too many layers of stitching for me to count. Basically, these feel and look absolutely bombproof, and I’m confident they’ll prove to be on the field. I have only one gripe, and it’s not really even Chris’s fault, and that’s that my Glock mags don’t fit great in the mag pouches in quick draw mode (through the top of the cargo pouch). I didn’t plan on using the quick draw function much anyway, just using the inner pockets to hold mags to feed into a belt pouch, so it’s a non-issue. Also, I couldn’t find any well-priced Crye knee pads online, so I’m going to buy a pair from Chris, which are what the pants are modeled with in the photos. He modifies them slightly to work better with the pants, as well, so it’s a win-win. In short, the price was good, the work was awesome, and it was a joy dealing with Chris throughout the process. I highly recommend him for any modifications you want done to your uniforms, and I know when I get my woodies and OD’s pimped out, I’m going to him. Pricing: 10/10 Extremely reasonable, and he was flexible on the payment plan. Craftsmanship: 10/10 Amazing. This stitching seriously blows my mind. Communication: 11/10. He kept up amazing commo with me the whole time; I definitely felt like I was part of the process, and he kept evolving the ideas, which turned out fantastic.

FCHP pants conversion

As people may or may not have seen, ABUs at the impression game were Crye-modded, with internal knee pads in the trousers. I decided to get them done because a.) I got a pair of G3 Crye knee pads for cheap, b.) it looks cool, and c.) I wanted to move to using Crye-like trousers. The modifications were done by Unconventional (same guy I got my luminous call sign patch from, which is also brilliant). What follows is my review of the pants. Pre-modification: First off I must say that Unconventional’s communication with me was fantastic throughout the entire process. He made sure to get all measurements and what I wanted done before I shipped the pants off, and kept me informed of the status of the work, and even monitored the tracking number to make sure it was delivered (He sent me a PM informing me of the delivery about 10 minutes after I had chased down the postman to get them). While planning for the modifications, he made sure to clarify everything I wanted done, which was; – Make internal knee pad pockets to fit G3 Crye knee pads – Transfer magazine/whatever pockets from the ankles to the front upper thighs – Relocate leg pockets as not to interfere with the knee pad – Hem trouser legs from Long to Regular length – Replace all pocket buttons with velcro closures There was a little confusion on the exact placement of the knee pads on the pants so to ensure that my knees would be over them, but that was sorted out fairly quickly. Again, I was very impressed with his communication with me, so much so that when I sent out my pants for modification I was sure that they would turn out fantastic. Review of Modifications: Knee Pads: This modification was the primary one that needed to be done, and the one that I was most worried about being done correctly. I ended up sending my knee pads along with the pants to ensure it as done right, as the G3 Crye pads are slightly different than what he was used to working with (G2 pads and clones). When I received the trousers in the mail, the knee pads were still in the trousers, so I didn’t get a chance to put them in and out immediately, but I’ll cover that later. After trying them on and doing some lunges around my apartment, I confirmed that the knee pads, when I was kneeling, were dead square on my knee caps. They got their first heavy use on Sunday at the BSP Impression game, and from the get go they were amazing. Several times during the patrol portion of the game, I was able to take a knee in everything from gravel to sticks with absolutely no discomfort. Also, during the assault on the village, I ended up doing a diving crouch behind cover and slamming my right knee in to a structure, which I’m sure would have hurt like hell had it not been for the knee pads. Only thing that someone might find fault with (I don’t, but others might), is that it’s harder to get the knee pads in and out on these than it is to do so on Crye pants. However, IMO this makes the pads much less likely to pop out, which happens occasionally to the G2 Crye combat pants. The stitching that secures the knee pad pockets is also very secure, and I don’t foresee any problems with it in the near future. Pockets: The relocation of the pockets went well. I was able to keep spare magazines in the relocated magazine pockets throughout the BSP game with no discomfort (in fact I forgot about one of them, and didn’t remember it until we were at Dairy Queen after the game). I was able to easily access all the pockets, and the pockets kept their content secure with no problem whatsoever. Hemming: The hemming was very well done. Unconventional didn’t hem exactly to Regular length. In stead I gave him the measurements from my feet to my knee caps, and he hemmed the trousers so that the legs didn’t ride up over my boots. I found, personally, that they were a great length; not too long, and not too short. Overall Experience: I can say I love these pants. They are more comfortable than anything else I’ve worn, and I can certainly say that I will be sending my other pants to Unconventional for modification in the future. Modification time, from when he received the trousers, was about 10 days. His price for this type of modification is $40 per pair of trousers. Grading: Communication: 10/10 Quality of work: 10/10 Price: 10/10 Overall, fantastic experience. I intend to do business with Unconventional again in the future.
